Elise Roodenburg

Elise is a (documentary) director who is passionate about human stories and different subcultures. She holds a Bachelor in Anthropology, a Masters in International Development and finished a study in documentary making. Elise is best described as a creative bird with a strong visual focus, travelling the world to capture stories. Meanwhile her home is in both Amsterdam and Rio de Janeiro.

 

Elise’s first feature length documentary Inside the Mind of Favela Funk is shot in Rio’s notorious favela’s. It premiered at IFFR, travelled to many International film festivals and was broadcasted worldwide. Her other documentary Mocromode is about Moroccan youth with expensive designer clothes in Rotterdam-south. The film was selected for the Nederlands Film Festival, broadcasted three times on Dutch TV (VPRO) and exploded on YouTube. Amongst Elise’s other video content are small documentaries for NGO’s like Unicef IndiaEstrela da Favela and Beauty Beyond Skin Color and (social media) videos for commercial ends. 

 

Elise’s directing is style is vibrant, colorful, with a focus on humor and the human story. She has an eye for somewhat controversial stories that appeal to a broad, mainstream audience. Elise is able work on different aspects of videomaking, including developing, directing, and editing. For Storyboard Studios she will make branded documentaries and develop concepts for social video content.
